Biografia
I Miriam si sono formati nella primavera
del 1998 dall’unione artistica di Carlo e Daniela
che miscelando i loro gusti musicali ed ispirazioni
cominciarono a creare delle canzoni molto atmosferiche
con una strumentazione rudimentale.
Il nome del gruppo è ispirato a un cult-movie
degli anni 80 con David Bowie e Catherine Deneuve su
una moderna coppia di vampiri metropolitani.
Le prime produzioni mostrano colori eterei e delicati,
portati ad un livello superiore dalla voce di Daniela.
L’uso di strumenti elettronici è stato
introdotto per intensificare l’impatto emozionale
e ampliare le capacità dei membri della band.
Le esibizioni dal vivo colgono immediatamente l’attenzione
della Black Velvet Agency che, trasformatasi in Decadance
Records, produce con la band “Arabesque”
nel 1999. Nell’autunno dello stesso anno Massimo
si unisce al gruppo aggiungendo al sound dei Miriam
chitarre taglienti e aggressive ed il suo background
electro.
Il risultato di questa unione sfocia nel 200 in “Im
Nebel” il secondo album del gruppo. Qui profondi
soundscapes abbracciano chiare e melodiche voci, con
qualche passo in direzioni meno oscure e anche dancefloor.
L’attività dal vivo modella e migliora
il gruppo nel suo tentativo di tradurre innata complessità in qualcosa di immediato e diretto per il palco.
La prima metà del 2001 vede i Miriam lavorare
su “Scents” che raccoglie il meglio dell’attività del gruppo con colori e sperimentazioni sonore nuove
e viene pubblicato nel 2002.
La band è ora in studio per completare il prossimo
album in uscita nel 2004.

Biography
Miriam has been founded during springtime
1998; sealed by the artistic union between Carlo and
Danielathey met each other's musical taste and inspiration
and started creating some very atmospheric tracks bymeans
of a basic electronic studio. The band's name was inspired
by a cult-movie of the eighties, starringDavid Bowie & Catherine Deneuve acting as a modern city vampires.
Their first productions featured anethereal and subtle
colour, taken beyond by the delicate and deep shades
of their vocalist Daniela. The useof electric instruments
was introduced to add feeling and broaden the band's
capabilities. First liveperformances immediately captured
some attention, and suddenly brought the band into cooperation
withthe Black Velvet Agency crew. In the beginning of
1999, Miriam entered the studio to record their firstpromo
CD "Arabesque"; it ended up with a 9 songs
/46 min.full length CD gathering the best of theirprevious
productions, ranging from the space tune "SWS"
to the obscure and cluttered sense of time in"The
minutes tale". "Arabesque" was produced
by the Black Velvet Agency and gained attention in manycountries
for it's originality and grace. During autumn'99 Massimo
joined the band, adding sharp and edgyguitars, along
with his extensive dance - electro background. The result
was scored with "Im Nebel", theirsecond full
length promo CD(10 songs /51 min.), produced by BVA
at the beginning of year 2000.Deeper and scapes embrace
a clear and melodic singing style, touching the edge
on "Scents", where asoft piano melody signs
a definite step outside of the obscure world and "Evidence",
a sensual balladsuited for dancefloors. In the meanwhile,
the band has been performing live several times and
improving,in the effort to translate innate complexity
into something immediate and direct onto stage. While
thepotentiality of acoustic and electric instruments
is being explored, the use of new electronic gear mayhelp
taking advantage of state-of-the-art sounds. In the
first half of year'01, Miriam have worked onthe realization
of their first official CD, produced by the label Decadance
Records;it gathered the very best of the whole three
years long band activity adding new colours and sonicexperimentation
on the entire spectrum. Titled "Scents", the
CD was released in 2002.Currently the band is working
on new tracks that will be included in their next album
to be released later in 2004.
