Siamo lieti di ospitare i Code 64 nel nostro spazio dedicato alle interviste. Ciao ragazzi tutto bene? Possiamo conoscere esattamente i vostri rispettivi ruoli all'interno della band?

-|-|-» Code64: Ciao e grazie a voi, benchè i nostri ruoli siano molto mobili musicalmente, l'unico punto fisso è il cantante che ora è Marius Bjørn Borg.

So che ultimamente avete cambiato cantante. Henrik esce di scena ed entra Bariuz, un noto remixer e producer. Possiamo sapere nel dettaglio come mai Henrik se n'è andato dalla line up ed in che modo avete trovato il nuovo vocalist?

-|-|-» Code64: Bene, abbiamo pensato che potevamo crescere oltre musicalmente, ma non ho captato la stessa cosa in Henrik. Dopo alcuni anni meravigliosi trascorsi assieme abbiamo capito che non volevamo piu fare la stessa musica. Questo è il motivo per cui Henrik ci ha lasciati e continuato da solo i suoi propri progetti. Abbiamo conosciuto in seguito Bariuz (Bjørn), quando ha realizzato il remix di "Guardian"; abbiamo avuto qualche contatto con lui per un po 'di tempo. Un giorno egli ha chiesto se poteva cantare in una canzone. La cosa è stata così entusiasmante che abbiamo dovuto tenerlo nella famiglia dei Code 64

Ora parlateci di voi. Potete darci qualche anticipazione? Cosa state progettando dopo il lontano "Departure"? (è stata la mia prima recensione su Dside)

-|-|-» Code64: Le canzoni del nostro prossimo album correranno dagli hard dancefloor alle ballads. Riteniamo che il nostro suono sia piu maturo e ci siamo avvicinati ad un soundimage piu complesso. L'album sarà ulteriormente scuro ed abbiamo abbandonato il nostro lato piu ingenuo. Ah, è stata la tua prima recensione? Siamo lieti di avere rubato la tua verginità in fatto di recensioni!

"Code 64".., ho letto che questo nome è stato ispirato dal mitico pc Commodore 64...

-|-|-» Code64: Si. E' una specia di tributo alla nostra infanzia poichè tutti siamo grandi fans dei videogiochi a cui ricorriamo spesso.

Provenite da una cultura puramente electro oppure in passato avete sperimentato esperienze in altri ambiti?

-|-|-» Code64: Piu o meno. Tutti noi ascoltiamo diversi tipi di electromusic, industrial, Psycedelic trance, techno, qualsiasi cosa. Bariuz proviene da un settore metal poichè egli fa parte appunto di una cybermetal band norvegese chiamata "Black Comedy".

Siete soddisfatti del giudizio della critica riguardo la vostra musica?

-|-|-» Code64: Piu o meno. A volte la nostra musica viene trattata come quella di una qualsiasi futurepop band. Ma noi riteniamo di essere molto piu di tutto ciò. Tuttavia la cosa piu importante è che i nostri fans gradiscono molto le cose che facciamo.

Quali sono, secondo voi, le vostre migliori caratteristiche?

-|-|-» Code64: La nostra musica è prodotta molto bene, sappiamo come creare floorfillers e generare grandi melodie. Diamo il nostro meglio quando suoniamo live.

...e le peggiori?...

-|-|-» Code64: Beh, forse alcuni testi, nel corso degli anni, non sono stati grandiosi e abbiamo fatto alcune canzoni di cui non siamo orgogliosi (ride)

Ci elenchereste le fasi piu importanti della vostra carriera?

-|-|-» Code64: La nostra prima offerta ricevuta e la nostra prima realizzazione. Sono state bellissime sensazioni. Poi, finalmente, stampare un CD e tenererlo in mano. Semplicemente meraviglioso! Abbiamo suonato in alcuni grandi concerti soprattutto a livelli del grande festival svedese "Arvikafestivalen" e poi una volta, quando ne abbiamo avuto la possibilità, ci siamo esibiti negli Stati Uniti. E 'stata una grande esperienza. Speriamo di poter visitare molti nuovi paesi ed altri luoghi in cui suonare.

Chi fa fortuna nel panorama musicale alternativo deve ringraziare esclusivamente il proprio talento oppure intervengono altri particolari fattori...?

-|-|-» Code64: La fortuna fa la sua parte ma non direi che noi siamo stati particolarmente fortunati. Certo, abbiamo avuto un grande riscontro in tutto il mondo e sembra che la gente gradisca ciò che facciamo , ma riferendoci alla domanda posta, non abbiamo avuto un riscontro soddisfacente quanto ci saremmo aspettati. Forse questa è una faccenda tipicamente sfortunata che potrebbe accadere, dal momento che ci sono in circolazione un sacco di bands che non meritano molto ma che godono di attenzioni maggiori. Chiamala gelosia ma è ciò che pensiamo...

Avete pensato ad una particolare strategia per lanciare la nuova line up?

-|-|-» Code64: Non ci abbiamo ancora pensato molto: punteremo piu sui media e daremo piu ai fans. Forse faremo un tour per promuovere il nostro album.

Come sono i Code 64 all'interno dell'ambito musicale?

-|-|-» Code64: Siamo molto attivi e questo è ciò che potete verificare ascoltando la nostra musica in quanto a volte le nostre canzoni sono molto diverse dalle altre.

Parlando delle vostre esperienze dal vivo, con quale criterio scegliete le canzoni da suonare?

-|-|-» Code64: Dal vivo occorrono molti floorfillers, hits o quello che vorresti chiamarli. Il pubblico deve godere di essi e, auspicabilmente, ballarli. Così selezioniamo tutte le canzoni danceables e proponiamo le migliori.

Avete mai suscitato invidie da parte di altre bands?

-|-|-» Code64: Non ne abbiamo mai sentito parlare: abbiamo conosciuto poche bands e se ciò è accaduto non ne siamo a conoscenza. Siamo sempre amichevoli con tutti, fans e bands, siano esse grandi o piccole. Non crediamo di essere stronzi con la gente.

Quali sono le vostre tastiere preferite?

-|-|-» Code64: ce ne sono molte, ma alcune di esse sono: Sh-101, Virus TI, Nordlead, Sidstation e così via.

Cosa consigliereste ai nuovi giovani artisti che vorrebbero avvicinarsi concretamente al progetto di una electroband?

-|-|-» Code64: Non rinunciate! E prendete tempo per creare la vostra musica, non siate frettolosi: tutto avverrà per tempo e siate amichevoli. Si arriva lontano se non ci si comporta come cretini.

Di cos'ha urgentemente bisogno il versante underground europeo?

-|-|-» Code64: Cambiamento e pensare in modo nuovo. Per ogni nuova band che si afferma con un grande nuovo sound ci sono almeno altre 30 che tentano di copiare solo quel suono speciale, forse perchè pensano che saranno famosi quanto quella...

Secondo voi, oggi il testo di una song deve essere necessariamente "cattivo" per funzionare, oppure si possono ottenere gli stessi risultati anche proponendo liriche piu "dolci"?

-|-|-» Code64: Ebbene, i nostri testi, nel corso degli anni sono stati scritti da Henrik, in realtà sarebbe una domanda rivolta a lui.. ma dal momento che non è qui è difficile rispondere... comunque le liriche non devono essere cattive o qualsiasi altra cosa. Mi piacciono veramente i bei testi, ma si dovrebbe stare lontani dai clichè. I testi sul nostro prossimo album saranno piu profondi, non saranno a "spazio tema" per tutto il tempo, ma varieranno. Si occuperanno di love themes (ride.. "clichè") e del filone piu serio della religione intesa come tale.

Vi dico questo perchè alcune critiche affermano che voi preferiate testi eccessivamente mielosi...

-|-|-» Code64: Si ne conveniamo, ma quei testi sono stati scritti da Henrik e ci sarà quindi una bella differenza d'ora innanzi.

Qual'è stato il brano che vi ha impegnati maggiormente dal punto di vista tecnico?

-|-|-» Code64: Hmm. .."Guardian" ha richiesto del lavoro serio e duro dal punto di vista tecnico. Pensiamo che sia stata la canzone piu difficile da lavorare fin dagli inizi.

Avete quindi in programma qualche tour, da quanto dite...?

-|-|-» Code64: Non ancora, ma stiamo pianificando qualcosa speranzosamente e nel migliore dei modi, cosi che che tutto il globo possa vederci dal vivo.

We are pleased to host the Code 64 in our space dedicated to interviews. Hello boys, are you good? Can we know exactly your names and your respective roles within the band?

-|-|-» Code64: Hi and thank you, well the roles are very swifting. We are all making the music and the only thing that really are solid are the singer. Which now is Bjørn Marius Borg.

I know that you have recently changed the singer. Henrik leaves the scene and entered Bariuz, a renowned remixer and producer. Can you tell us in detail why Henrik has left the line up and how you've found the new vocalist?

-|-|-» Code64: Well, we felt that we growed apart musically and didn't strive after the same goal with Henrik. After some wonderful years together we all noticed that we didn?t want to do the same music anymore. So that is why Henrik left and continued on his own projects. we learned to know Bariuz (Bjørn) when he did a greta remix on Guardian for and have had some contact with him a while One day he asked if he could sing on a song and it sounded so great that we just had to take him into the Code 64 family

Now talk us about you. Can you give us some "new" in advance? What are you planning after the far "Departure"?(Do you know that it was my first review on Dside webzine..)

-|-|-» Code64: The songs on this forthcoming album will be very swifting from hard florrfillers to nice ballads . We think that our sound will be more mature and we are moving into a more complex soundimage. The album will be more darker and we have left the naive side more. Ah it was your first review? We are glad that we took your virginity in reviews.

"Code 64 "..., I read that this name was inspired by the legendary pc Commodore 64...!

-|-|-» Code64: Yes. It is kind of a tribute to our childhood since we all are great videogame enthusiasts and play alot of games.

Do you come from a purely "electro" culture or in the past you have had experience in other music fields?

-|-|-» Code64: More or less. We all listen to different kind of electromusic, Industrial, Psycedelic trance, techno you name it. But Bariuz also comes from a metal side since he is a part of a norwegian cybermetal band called "Black comedy".

Are you satisfied about the judgement of the medias about your music?

-|-|-» Code64: More or less. Sometimes our music has been casted away as just another futurepop band. But we think that we are more than just that. But the fans seems to like what we are doing and thats the most important thing.

Which are, in your view, your best features?

-|-|-» Code64: Our music is produced very well, we know how to make floorfillers and me make great melodies. We give our hardest when we play live.

.. and the worst?

-|-|-» Code64: Well, maybe some lyrics throughout the years haven't been that great and we have some songs that we arent that proud of. (smile)

Would you tell us the most important stages of your career?

-|-|-» Code64: Our first record deal and our first release. That was a wonderful feeling. To finally have it printed on a Cd and to hold it in your hand. just wonderful Then we have some great gigs especially at the big swedish festival "Arvikafestivalen", And one time when we got to play in the states. It was a great experience and we hope that we can visit many new countries and places to play at.

Who does luck in the alternative music panorama must thank only his talent or other special factors are involved ...?

-|-|-» Code64: Luck does it part. but we havent been that lucky really. Sure we have had great feedback from all over the world and it seems that people are liking what we are doing, but one thing as from the last question, we havent been out playing so much as we wanted to. Maybe that is a typicall unlucky thing that have happen to us since there are alot of bands that really arent that good all over the world that has gotten more attention. Call it jealousy or whatever but that is one thing we think

Have you thought of particular strategy to promote the new line up?

-|-|-» Code64: We haven't thought of it so much, But thing is to be better in media and Give more to the fans. maybe try to do a tour to promote our album.

Who are the Code 64 behind the music activity ?

-|-|-» Code64: We all are very active and that is something you can hear on our music since the songs sometimes are quite different from eachother.

Speaking about your live experiences: with which criterion you choose the songs to play on stage?

-|-|-» Code64: Live it should be many floorfillers, Hits or what you should call them. The audience must enjoy it and hopefully dance to it to. So we usually takes all the danceables songs and just do our best.

Have you ever caused some envy by other bands?

-|-|-» Code64: Not that we heard of, but sure there are a few bands that we have met that haven't been that kind and if its envy we dont know. We are always friendly to everyone, fans, bands even if its a bigger or smaller band. We dont believe in being an asshole against other people.

Which are your favorite keyboards?

-|-|-» Code64: we have many but some of them are Sh-101, Virus TI, Nordlead, Sidstation and so on.

What you would to advise to the new young artists that would create actually an electroband project?

-|-|-» Code64: Don't give up! And take your time making music, Dont make it fast, everything should take its time and be friendly. You will reach far more if your not behaving as an asshole.

What the European music underground urgently needs?

-|-|-» Code64: Changing and "newthinking". Almost everytime a new band comes up with a great new sound, there are like 30 other bands trying to copy just that special sound, maybe because they think that they are gonna be as big as the first band.

According to you, today the text of a song must be necessarily "bad" to have success, or the same results can be obtained more also proposing " sweet" lyrics?

-|-|-» Code64: Well, our lyrics throughout the years has been written by Henrik, so that is a question for him really, But since he is not here its hard.But lyrics doesn?t have to be bad or anything. I enjoy really good lyrics but you should stay away from clichès. The lyrics on our next album will be more deep and will not be about "space theme" all the time. It handles alot from the typical love theme (haha clichè) and more serious like religion and such.

...I say you this because some critics say that you prefer an excessive sweet lyric's style....Are you agree?

-|-|-» Code64: Yes we agree, but those lyrics have been written by Henrik so there will be a difference from now on ;)

What was been the song that engaged to you mainly from the technical point of view?

-|-|-» Code64: Hmm..."Guardian" had have some serious hard work technically. Think its the most hard worked song from Departure at least.

So you have in program some live tour, by your words...?

-|-|-» Code64: Not yet, we gonna plan something and hopefully get out there as much as we can so that everyone areound the globe can be able to see us live.
