-|-|-» Rouven: Grazie per l'interesse riguardo gli Endanger

Sono trascorsi dieci anni dalla vostra nascita, nove dal primo album 'Motion' e tre di ultimo 'Eternalizer V2'. Quali elementi tecnici ed ispirativi avete cambiato e che cosa avete conservato di essi durante questa decade?

-|-|-» Marc: Dal nostro primo album 'Motion' del 1999 a 'Revolt' abbiamo avuto sempre un occhio particolare verso forti ed emozionali melodie da grande potere attrattivo. Proviamo sempre a rendere buona ogni canzone,talmente che potrebbero essere realizzate tutte come singoli. Ma per parlare dei cambiamenti più interessanti su 'Revolt' direi che esistono molti più strumenti acustici negli arrangiamenti. E cantiamo più testi riguardo la società attuale anziché soltanto verso l'elemento 'amore' che ha dominato le liriche dei nostri lavori del passato.

C'è sempre un grande fermento nella sfera electropop tdesca. Molte band nascono e declinano nel giro di pochi anni ed altre, come gli Endanger, resistono. Non credo sia solo fortuna. Come resistete al fattore 'tempo'?

-|-|-» Rouven: Generando il nostro unico stile . Naturalmente le nostre canzoni sono inoltre influenzate dalla musica che ascoltiamo. Ma riconoscerete sempre una canzone degli Endanger .

'Revolt' è il vostro ultimo album.Lo trovo un pò differente rispetto ai precedenti. Non mi riferisco solamente all'introduzione con la chitarra acustica di 'Atemlos' ma all'intero contesto che giudico tecnicamente più maturo. Giusto?...

-|-|-» Marc: Probabilmente hai ragione. L'impiego di molti strumenti acustici è un punto che rende il tatto delle canzoni molto più maturo.
-|-|-» Rouven: Ed abbiamo migliorato le liriche cantando molti più testi sulla nostra società . È sempre bello cantare songs sull'amore ed i rapporti, ma quando si invecchia ci si interroga di più riguardo il mondo in cui stiamo vivendo e noi vogliamo quindi rilasciare alcune dichiarazioni quì.

'Times are changing' è una canzone stupefacente, merito anche della voce della singer dei Technoir/Chandeen, Julia Beyer. Perché avete pensato proprio a lei per la realizzazione di questa traccia?

-|-|-» Rouven: Conosciamo Julia da qualche anno ed era soltanto una questione di tempo fin quando ci siamo riuniti. La sua voce è perfetta per questa canzone. Siamo molto fieri avere la sua voce sul nostro CD.

Di cosa parla in pratica 'Revolt'?

-|-|-» Marc: Il messaggio base è: Esci e cambia il mondo!

Gli Endanger amano remixare songs per band illustri. Come avete ricostruito 'Supermassive Gravity' dei Massive in Mensch?

-|-|-» Marc: Abbiamo dato al brano un nuovo e più completo suono. La canzone originale era pop - il nostro remix presenta l'EBM come suono.

Tempo fa la Konami vi chiese una vostra traccia per un nuovo gioco. Come è finita questa storia?

-|-|-» Rouven: Sfortunatamente non ne so più nulla.

Il 2 Novembre 2008 sarete a Mosca al Synfest 2 assieme a bands del calibro di Das Ich. Cosa ci raccontate?

-|-|-» Marc: Sono stato a Mosca anni fa con la mia band d'origine. Fu una bella esperienza! Ma questo molto prima di incominciare come Endanger.
-|-|-» Rouven: Non ho mai suonato a Mosca prima d'ora. Naturalmente sono eccitato per questo evento.

State cercando di entrare nel mercato musicale russo?

-|-|-» Marc: Naturalmente. La musica elettronica ha un sacco di fans lì.

Una curiosità, ritornando a 'Revolt'. Perchè cantate testi sia in tedesco che in inglese? E' una tendenza abituale di molti gruppi tedeschi. Si adatta meglio alla vostra musica la vostra lingua madre o l'inglese?

-|-|-» Rouven: Siamo felici di potere realizzare le nostre canzoni in 2 lingue differenti. Così possiamo decidere quale lingua suona meglio ad ogni canzone. Ogni lingua ha una sensibilità speciale. Per esempio, usiamo spesso il tedesco per le liriche molto poetiche.

Dopo aver remixato gli italiani Syrian nel 2006 avete avuto altri contatti con la nostra electroband?

-|-|-» Marc: Non più.

E' alquanto inusuale trovare nella vostra title track una song intitolata 'Equal Ways'. Non esiste nessun riferimento al vecchio brano dei Clan of Xymox?

-|-|-» Rouven: Ho ascoltato molto la musica dei Clan of Xymox ma non ricordo quella song, Per rispondere alla tua domanda direi che non c'è nessun riferimento.

State pianificando concerti che toccheranno l'Italia?

-|-|-» Marc: Se ci invitassero per suonare in Italia faremmo immediatamente le valigie e verremmo lì!
-|-|-» Rouven: Sono già stato altre volte in Italia e l'adoro.

Quali sono le vostre personali sensazioni lavorando con la Infacted? Vi sentite liberi di creare o esiste una politica della label che limita le vostre scelte?

-|-|-» Marc: L'unica politica è: 'Dovete fare buona musica'. Questo è tutto. Siamo completamente liberi di sperimentare le cose e di esprimerci in tutti il sensi che vogliamo. Questa è una delle ragioni per le quali stiamo collaborando con Infacted da tanto tempo.

Rouven, tu dai moltissima importanza ed enfasi alla sezione vocals che deve essere potente e ben calibrata. Quale altro cantante apprezzi per la sua voce?

-|-|-» Rouven: Grazie per le tue gentili parole. Amo davvero la voce di Xavier Naidoo. E' davvero speciale ma non so se lo conoscete in Italia.

-|-|-» Rouven: Grazie a tutti i fans che sono rimasti con noi. Sappiamo che tre anni rappresentano un lungo tempo, tuttavia abbiamo fatto il meglio che potevamo per piacervi. Ci auguriamo che gradirete il nostro 'Revolt'.

-|-|-» Rouven: Thank you for your interest in endanger.

Ten years have passed since your birth, nine from the first album 'Motion' and three of the last 'Eternalizer V2. What technical and ispirative elements have you changed and what you have maintained throughout this decade?

-|-|-» Marc: From our first album MOTION in 1999 to REVOLT we always had an eye on strong and emotional melodies and great hooks. And we always try to make each song so good that it could easily be relaesed as a single. But to speak of the most interesting changes on REVOLT, there are a lot of acoustic instruments in the arrangements. And we sing alot more about the society we are living in instead of only love which dominated the lyrics on our past releases.

There is always a great ferment in the German electropop sphere. Many bands born and decline in a few years and others like Endanger resist. I don't think it's only luck. How you resist against the 'time factor'?

-|-|-» Rouven: By creating your own unique style. Of course our songs are also influenced by the music we listen to. But you always recognize an endanger song.

'Revolt' is the last album. I find this a little differently than the previous ones, I am not referring only to the introduction of acoustic guitar in 'Atemlos'... but to the whole context which I believe technically more mature. Right?

-|-|-» Marc: Maybe you are right. Using a lot of acoustic instruments is one point that makes the songs feel a lot more mature.
-|-|-» Rouven: And we improved the lyrics by singing about our society a lot more. It is always fine to sing about love and relationships - but when we get older we wonder more about the world we are living in, and we want to make some statements here.

'Times are changing' is an amazing song, also deserve of the voice of the Technoir / Chandeen's singer, Julia Beyer. Why you thought her for the realization of this track?

-|-|-» Rouven: We know Julia for some years now and it was only a matter of time till we got together. Her voice works perfect with this song. We are very proud to have her voice on our CD.

What 'Revolt' speaks in practice ?

-|-|-» Marc: The basic massage of REVOLT is: Go out and change the world !

Endanger love remix songs for illustrious bands. How did you rebuilt 'Supermassive Gravity' by Massive Mensch?

-|-|-» Marc: We gave 'supermassive gravity' a complete new sound. The original song was pop - our remix delivers an EBM like sound.

Time ago, Konami asked you a song for a new game. How is finished this story?

-|-|-» Rouven: Unfortunatelly I don´t know.

On 2 November 2008 you will be in Moscow at the Synfest 2, together with bands of the calibre of Das Ich. What you told us about it?

-|-|-» Marc: I have been to Moscow some years ago with my former band. It was a great experience ! But this was long before we started Endanger.
-|-|-» Rouven: I have never played in Moscow before. But of course I´m exited about this event.

Are you trying to enter in the Russian music market?

-|-|-» Marc: Yes of course. Electronic music has a lot of fans there.

A curiosity, returning to 'Revolt'. Why you play texts in German and others in English? It's an habitual tendency of many German band. Does it adapts better to music your mother tongue or English?

-|-|-» Rouven: We are happy to be able to perform our songs in 2 different languages. So we can decide which language fits best to each song. Every language has a special feeling. For example, we often use german for very poetic lyrics.

After having remixed the Italians Syrian in 2006 have you had other contacts with our electroband?

-|-|-» Marc: Not so much.

It's a little unusual finding in your title track a song entitled 'Equal Ways', there's no reference to the old song by clan of Xymox...?

-|-|-» Rouven: Hm, I heard a lot of Music from Clan of Xymox in the eighties but I can´t remember that one. But to answer your question - there is no reference to that song.

Are you planning concerts that will also touch Italy?

-|-|-» Marc: If we are invited to play in Italy, we will immediately pack our bags and be there !
-|-|-» Rouven: I have often been to Italy and I love it.

What are your personal feelings working for Infacted? Do you feel yourself free to create or there's a policy of the label that binds your choices?

-|-|-» Marc: The only policy is: You have to make good music. Thats all. We are totaly free to try things out and express ourselves in any way we want. That is one of the reasons why we are working togehter with Infacted for so long.

Rouven, you give to the songs a great deal of emphasis on vocals section, they must be powerful and well calibrated. What other singer do you appreciate for his voice?

-|-|-» Rouven: Thank you for your kind words. I really love the voice of Xavier Naidoo. It is very special. I don´t know if you know him in Italy.
