Auguriamo il benvenuto ai Colony 5. Allora ragazzi, cosa ci dite riguardo il nuovo album "Buried Again"? Promette di essere più maturo e completo dei precedenti...confermate ciò?

-|-|-» Colony 5 : Non abbiamo mai promesso nulla. Ma noi, naturalmente, pensiamo che sia il migliore che abbiamo fatto fin'ora. E'assolutamente pieno di dettagli tra le tante altre grandi strutture che lo caratterizzano.

Noto in "Buried Again" qualche esigenza di sperimentazione di differenti suoni ma sempre tenendo conto di non deludere i fan con espressioni distanti dal vostro tipico stile. E' vero?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Non abbiamo mai veramente preso in considerazione nessuna sensazione dei fans, attualmente. Riteniamo invece che sarebbe molto rischioso vivere pensando come pensa qualcun altro. Ciò per molte variabili e sarebbe molto meno divertente.

La scelta del titolo è enigmatica...chi è "Ancora sepolto" e da cosa?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Il titolo di ogni album è molto importante e noi abbiamo sempre cercato di riassumere l'album senza farne un tema specifico ed allo stesso tempo aprirlo ad una moltitudine di interpretazioni, come abbiamo sempre fatto.

Avete introdotto speciali elementi hardware o software che non avete usato in precedenti lavori?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Come sempre sì, lo sviluppo degli strumenti software e hardware è incredibile, chi fa questi strumenti è da considerare l'eroe non riconosciuto del decennio. Si apre quindi un percorso tra la mente e l'udito del pubblico. Cinquant'anni fa avremmo dovuto imparare a suonare strumenti acustici e spendere un sacco di tempo cercando di dare corpo ai brani all'interno di un'area comunque limitata. Ora se si desidera convertire la distorsione di un grido in un ritornello puoi farlo. La tua fantasia è il solo limite.

Dal 1999, anno di nascita della band, è trascorso molto tempo .In quale modo i C5 sono accresciuti professionalmente?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Cerchiamo di rendere tutti felici e di lasciare una piccola impronta alla storia.

Il singolo "Plastic World" ha rappresentato una pietra miliare per voi nel 2005 esso vinse il prezioso premio SAMA. Come fate a stupirci sempre con la semplicità? Qual'è il vostro segreto?

-|-|-» Colony 5: E'racchiuso sicuramente nell'anima di P-O, anche se non per sempre.

Come nasce una vostra canzone? Quali specifiche competenze ha ciscuno di voi nella creazione di una traccia?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Noi siamo una squadra saldata assieme nel corso degli anni, a volte non sappiamo chi interviene nella traccia visto che lavoriamo così strettamente a contatto con essa.

Sembrerebbe che abbiate una particolare predisposizione per i tour. Infatti il vostro calendario è pieno di date. In quale paese avete più successo ed in quale,invece, non vi hanno apprezzato?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Siamo sempre stati i benvenuti in Germania che è diventata quasi la nostra seconda casa ma non pare ci sia un luogo particolare dove non siamo apprezzati. Non abbiamo fatto troppo successo in Inghilterra ma vorremmo andarci per cercare di cambiare le cose.

Nel nuovo hit single "Knives" una delle quattro versioni è remixata dai Syrian. Quali rapporti intercorrono tra voi ed il synth-duo italiano?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Nulla in particolare, tuttavia hanno fatto un eccellente lavoro in "Knives". Ci piacerebbe fare con loro una bella chiacchierata davanti ad una bottiglia di Chianti...

La scena electro svedese è sempre stata caratterizzata da eccellenti artisti. Personalmente apprezzo molto lo stile scandinavo di concepire il suono elettronico. Qual'è la differenza tra l'electro svedese e quella tedesca?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Credo che a volte la musica tedesca sia più vicina alla moda, all'immagine ed al circo mediatico più che alla musica in sè. Forse in ciò sta la differenza, diversamente non possiamo dire altro. Comunque siamo d'accordo. La Svezia ha originato alcune buone band nel corso degli anni.

La Memento Materia ha firmato una collaborazione con la Infacted. Cosa ci dite a riguardo?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Beh, non avevamo nessuno che ci rappresentasse in Germania e siamo entrati in contatto con la Infacted attraverso l'Epicentre Booking che ha fatto tutto per noi per farci ingaggiare. Poi attraverso noi la Infacted ha incominciato a lavorare con la Memento Materia. E' stato davvero un episodio fortunato poichè la Infacted ha aperto il mercato tedesco per noi.Siamo stati in cima alla DAC 10 per tutto il tempo che ci è stato consentito!

Parlateci del pubblico italiano. Avete molti fans dal nostro paese?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Riceviamo e mail e commenti nel nostro guestbook dall'Italia di volta in volta, dovevamo andarci per almeno un paio di occasioni ma purtroppo non ci è stato possibile. Andremo in Italia se avremo un'offerta. E' un paese straordinario con un clima incredibile, la natura e la storia il vino ed il cibo. E' tutto bellissimo.

I C5 hanno altri componenti che suonano nell'organico durante i concerti?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Non siamo sicuri di ciò che intendi dire ma siamo in grado di dirti qualcosa che abbiamo in programma per il futuro. Stiamo lavorando su un video di supporto che sarà proiettato dietro noi durante i concerti. Stiamo lavorando anche in stretta collaborazione con uno stilista di moda per una nuova linea di abbigliamento. Non siamo alla ricerca di un outift ma vogliamo qualcosa che rifletta la nostra personalità. Stiamo cercando inoltre una terza persona da inserire nei concerti nelle percussioni live per il prossimo anno. Vedremo...

Quando vi vedremo in Italia?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Non appena riceveremo un invito.

Ultima domanda ragazzi: tempo fa abbiamo sentito alcune voci riguardo una vostra dissoluzione, voci smentite subito dopo la pubblicazione del nuovo album. Sono accaduti in passato fatti che possono avere alimentato queste voci?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Siamo sorpresi come chiunque altro del resto. Non si è mai parlato di scioglimento. Dovevamo altresì mettere a posto tra noi alcune cose in sospeso ma non abbiamo mai detto "dobbiamo scioglierci". Abbiamo solo avvertito l'esigenza di cambiare qualcosa in noi. Ecco perchè abbiamo cambiato un pò il nostro stile ed ecco perchè stiamo creando nuovi vestiti, video ed altre cose.

We all wish welcome to Colony 5. So,, what about your new album "Buried Again"? It promises to be as much mature and complete than all the previous...You confirmed us that ?

-|-|-» Colony 5 : We never promised anything. ´But we, of course, think it's the best we can do right now. It's absolutely filled with details between the large structures.

I notice in "Buried Again" some need to experiment different sounds but always taking in account not disappoint your fans with expressions too distant from your typical sound. It's true?

-|-|-» Colony 5: We never took into account any fans feeling actually. We think it would be very dangerous to suddenly live up to something you think somebody else thinks. To many variables and much less fun.

The choice of the title is enigmatic...who is "Buried again", and in what?

-|-|-» Colony 5: The album title of each album is very important and we've always tried to summorize the album but not make it a theme, and at the same time have it open for a multitude of intrepertations, as we always does.

Have you introduced special hardware or software elements that you have not used in the past works ?

-|-|-» Colony 5: As always yes, the devolpment of software and hardware instruments is staggering, the people making these are our unsung heroes of the decade. It opens up the path between your mind and the audience ears. 50 years ago we would have had to learn to play acoustic intruments and spend a lot of time trying to make songs within that limited area. Now if you want a reverse distored shout building up towards a refrain it easy. Your fantasy is the limit.

Since 1999, the year of birth of the band, many time has passed. In what measure Colony 5 are professionally grown ?

-|-|-» Colony 5: We care less about trying to make everybody happy, and care more about making a small small imprint in history.

The single "Plastic World" has marked a great milestone for you,in the 2005 it won the precious SAMA's prize. How you can always surprize us only using the semplicity ? What's your secret?

-|-|-» Colony 5: It's securly locked in P-O's mind, even he can't get to it always

So,how born your song? What specific skills have each of you in the creation of a track?

-|-|-» Colony 5: It's a team welded together through the years, we sometimes do not know who did what cause we work so closely with the product.

It would seem that you have a particular presisposition for tours. In facts your calendar is ever full of dates. In which Country you had more success and where,instead, there haven't appreciated you?

-|-|-» Colony 5: We've always been welcome in Germany which has become our second home almost, but i don't think we have some specific place that's absolutely hated us. We haven't done so good in UK though, but we aim to change that. We love going to England so we should really be able to make them like us in return, it's just fair :)

In the new hit single "Knives" one of the four versions of it is remixed by Syrian. What relationship there is between you and this Italian synth-dhuo ?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Nothing really but they did excellent work on Knives, so we'd love to have a chat over a lovely bottle of Chianti.

The Swedish electro scene has always been characterized by excellent musical artists. I appreciate very much the Scandinavian way of conceiving the electronic sound. What's the difference between the Swedish electro sound and the German?

-|-|-» Colony 5: I think sometimes German music is more about the costumes, image and circus more than the music. Perhaps that's a difference, otherwise we don't know but we agree, Sweden has spawned some real good bands through the years.

Memento Materia has signed a collaboration with Infacted. What you can tell us about this fact?

-|-|-» Colony 5: Well, we didn't have anyone representing us in Germany anymore so we came into contact with Infacted through Epicentre Booking which does all of our booking in and around Germany. And through us Infacted started working with MM. It was really a lucky thing because Infacted has opened up the german market for us even more and we've been on the top 10 on the DAC for all the time you're allowed!

What about the Italian public? Have you many fans from our Country?

-|-|-» Colony 5: We get emails and comments in our guestbooks from Italy from time to time, and we've been close to going there a couple of times but sadly it has never really worked. We'll go to Italy in a jiffy if we got an offer. What a remarkable country, with incredible climate and nature, and the history and wine and food. it's all brilliant.

Have Colony 5 some other play components in their organic during the live concerts?

-|-|-» Colony 5: We're not sure what you mean, but we can tell you a little about what we have planned for the future. We're working on a video support to be projected behind us during the gig, we're also working closely with a fashion designer for new stage clother. We're not looking for an outift or circus-costumes but we want something that fits our personalities. We're also probably gonna have a third person on stage on live drums or something next year if we still do shows by then. Let's see...

When we'll see you in Italy?

-|-|-» Colony 5: As soon as we get an invite.

Last question: Long ago we heared some rumors about your dissolution, denials immediately after the publication of the new album. There were happened facts int he past that could have rooted this suspiction?

-|-|-» Colony 5: We where as surprised as everybody else actually, there was never talk about dissolution. We did however put things on hold for a while and we where not sure when we where to release something new if ever. but we never said "let's quit". We just felt like we had painted ourselves into a corner so we wanted to change everything. That's why we've changed our style a bit and we're doing new clothes and video and stuff. It's like in Formula One, if you're standing still you're moving backwards (GO Fisi).
